Privacy Policy

OtterPix is a Mac image-processing app that runs every operation, including all AI features, locally on your device. This policy explains what data the Mac app and this marketing site (otterpix.app) handle, and what they deliberately do not.
1. Who we are
OtterPix is operated by an independent developer. The contact address for any privacy question, data-subject request, or correction is hello@otterpix.app. We act as the data controller for the limited data described below.
2. What this policy covers
Two surfaces are covered: (a) the OtterPix Mac application distributed through the Apple App Store; (b) the marketing website at otterpix.app. The two are deliberately separated — the app is designed to function with no telemetry, while the website uses standard web analytics under the conditions described in section 5.
3. What the Mac app collects: nothing
The Mac app does not collect, transmit, or store any user data. There is no analytics SDK, no telemetry, no crash-reporting service, no image upload. Every operation — format conversion, compression, watermarking, AI generation, AI upscale, AI cutout, AI eraser, AI anonymize, AI face restore — runs entirely on your Mac. This is verifiable in the app's Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) and its App Sandbox entitlements.
4. What the Mac app talks to over the network
The app makes outbound HTTPS requests only in three narrow situations: (a) to Apple servers for App Store subscription verification, governed by Apple's privacy policy; (b) to huggingface.co when you explicitly choose to download an AI model — the request is a public file download and Hugging Face's privacy policy applies; (c) when you click the "Visit Website" link in About, which opens otterpix.app in your browser. The app never uploads images, prompts, or usage data.
5. What this website collects
Strictly necessary cookies remember your language preference (otterpixLocale), theme preference (otterPixThemePreference, otterPixResolvedTheme), and timezone for auto-theme (otterPixTimezone). These are required for the site to remember your choices across visits and are stored under GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) legitimate interest. If you consent via the cookie banner, the site additionally loads Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate page traffic. GA4 IP addresses are anonymized; we receive only aggregate reports. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the consent cookie or using your browser's settings.
6. Email correspondence
If you write to hello@otterpix.app, we retain your message and email address for as long as needed to respond and to keep a reasonable record. You may request deletion at any time. We will not add you to any marketing list without your separate, explicit opt-in.
7. Children
OtterPix is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. International users and transfers
The marketing site is hosted on Cloudflare's global network. If you are visiting from outside the country where data is ultimately processed, your data may be transferred internationally; in all cases we apply GDPR-equivalent protections.
9. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, or erase the personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, to request portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@otterpix.app.
10. Updates to this policy
We will update the "last updated" date when this policy changes. Material changes — for example, adding a new analytics tool — will be announced on this page at least 14 days before they take effect.
